GSA is seeking to fill a CAD Designer II position for the Civil Engineering Department.  Candidates will be active in the drafting of public and private sector developments in a consulting engineering firm.  Project sizes range from approximately one (1) acre to several hundred acres.   Project types include residential subdivision, commercial retail, office developments, public / municipal buildings, institutional, military, and nonprofit developments.  Two or more years of experience in conceptual planning and developing construction documents obtained in a site civil consulting engineering environment is required. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.  Experience with SiteOps is beneficial. This position includes taking design instruction and developing construction documents for land planning, grading, storm drainage, utilities, soil erosion and sediment control, and details. This process includes concept plans, documents for regulatory agencies, and final construction plans for detailed construction.

SURVEYING RODMAN

Role and Responsibilities

The Survey Rodman will be responsible for supporting Surveyors and surveying crews during the measurement of land and grade.

• Visit work/construction sites for land measurements
• Using basic mathematics and reading numerals
• Provide accurate survey rod readings at request and direction of Crew Chief
• Work in varying weather conditions and work diverse environments
• Comply with all policies, procedures, and safety requirements
• Perform any other general duties as specified

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• 0-1 years of experience assisting in surveying procedures, operations and providing survey rod readings.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
• Must have the ability to stand, crawl and kneel

Transportation Engineer - EI

Job Responsibilities:
• Work with clients such as the state, cities and counties of Alabama, in addition to private clients
• Prepare engineering plans, construction documents, maps, reports, construction cost estimates and other
project related items
• Design projects that include public and private road systems, grading, drainage, erosion and sediment control,
and traffic control plans
• Read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction documents, soil and material reports, and
government regulations
• Perform drainage and hydraulics calculations
• Work under the supervision of a Project Manager

Training / Experience
• 0-3 years Design Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
• E.I. required from the State of Alabama
• Experience with MicroStation and Inroads, experience in Openroads is encouraged
• Strong analytical skills and good technical writing ability
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and work well with coworkers, clients and contractors
• Strong working knowledge of general civil engineering principles
• Willingness to learn new programs for design
• Must be willing to work flexible schedules, overtime as needed
