The Cotswolds Subdivision

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL

The project consists of a 600 lot community with mid to high level housing in the southern portion of Jefferson County adjacent to Liberty Park. The project is part of a large master planned community requiring significant infrastructure improvements including the relocation of Sicard Hollow Rd. Special design considerations included providing conservation easements, natural preservation areas, and stormwater quality ponds facilities designed to filter and treat construction stormwater discharged to the Cahaba River.

Windsor Parc Subdivision

BESSEMER, AL

Master Planned 350 Lot Subdivision in Chelsea, AL. Project included site layout, grading, stormwater design, erosion control, utilities, and construction coordination. Construction was phased into 4 phases. Property contained wetlands which were converted into a stormwater detention facility.

Chesser Plantation

CHELSEA, AL

Construction was phased into 4 phases. Property contained wetlands which were converted into a stormwater detention facility.  GSA's scope of work included Site Layout, Grading,  Stormwater Design, Erosion Control, Utilities,  and Construction coordination.

The Overlook at Riverhaven

HOOVER, AL

Multi-family development containing 128 condominium units.  Project phasing coordinated with contractor for partial occupancy before entire project completion.  GSA's scope of work included Site Layout, Grading, Erosion Control and Utilities.

Kensington Place

CALERA, AL

Multi-use planned unit development located in Calera, AL. Single family residential portion of project included 225 lots.

The Grove Shopping Center

HOOVER, AL

180 Acre Site 600,000 sq. ft. of retail space with associated parking and 9 outparcels.

SPANISH FORT, AL

2005 ABC Merit Award

Project consists of a regional shopping center consisting of a lifestyle center and a power center. Total building are is greater than 1,000,000 sf, the site is situated on a 200 ac serving a regional resort area located on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay in Spanish Fort, AL. Due to heavy rainfall in the coastal area and flooding conditions adjacent to the property, extensive hydraulics and hydrology studies were required, including the design of a 100 ac-ft stormwater detention facility.

MONTGOMERY, AL
Modifications and upgrades to infrastructure on base and security improvements and force protection measures of existing roadways and parking facilities. Design of earth berms, concrete/masonry walls, and re-distribution of parking facilities to be in accordance with the United Facilities Criteria.

Spain Park High School

HOOVER, AL

Project consists of a 2,400 student high school situated on a 140 acre campus with athletic facilities including a football stadium, competition track and field, competition baseball and softball fields, practice baseball and softball fields, soccer field, and band practice fields. Project was the recipient of the Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Award.

Parker High School

BIRMINGHAM, AL

​Project consists of a new 2,000 student high school for the Birmingham City School Board. Challenges include constructing the new high school in a confined area in downtown Birmingham on the same property as the existing high school while the existing high school remained in use. After demolition of the existing school, subsequent phases of construction include a state of the art nine lane track and field facility, synthetic turf football stadium, competition baseball and softball fields, addition practice facilities and parking lots.

HWY 280 ACCESS MANAGEMENT PLAN

BIRMINGHAM, AL

This project was 28 intersection improvements along a 9 mile section of US 280 from Hollywood Blvd. to Doug Baker Blvd. The project consisted of indirect left turns, elimination of traffic signals, relocation of traffic signals and restriction of intersections. The project is estimated to reduce delay time as much as 65%, increase fuel efficiency by 50% and reduce commute time by 8-10 minutes a day.

I-459/Derby Parkway

BIRMINGHAM, AL

We provided environmental and roadway design for a new interchange along I-459 at Derby Parkway. One of the first of it kind in Alabama, where the proposed cross road was designed to go under the existing interstate, while maintaining interstate traffic during construction. Therefore the exit and entrance ramps were designed to handle 50 mph construction traffic while the bridge was built. The bridge also used existing steel from another steel bridge that was removed to reduce cost.

SR-182 ACCESS MANAGEMENT PLAN

ORANGE BEACH, AL

GSA was hired to prepare access management plans for SR182 (Beach Road) in Orange Beach, Alabama from the west city limits to the Florida State Line. The plan included adding a raised median, removing signals, direct left turns and crossing movements to eliminate conflict points along the route. GSA also renovated the existing bike facility.

Birmingham Airport Authority

BIRMINGHAM, AL

Various projects including air carrier apron rehab, new taxiway and cargo apron and ramps, security fencing project and the relocation of Village Creek to accommodate the new Cargo facility.

INTERSTATE 65 FROM VALLEYDALE ROAD TO INTERSTATE 459

BIRMINGHAM, AL

Added one lane in each direction to I-65.  Modified the northbound I-65 exit ramp to I-459 to two lanes. Modified the I-65 entrance ramp from I-459 to two lanes.

US-59/Beltway 8

HOUSTON, TX

A fully directional interchange design connecting US 59 (Southwest Freeway) and Beltway 8 in the southwest part of Houston, TX. The interchange also encompassed a separated HOV lane for METRO down the middle of US 59 with a park and ride lot and interchange with the HOV.
